Getting Fresh. Phoenix is one of the most exciting arts projects in Yorkshire. It builds on the rich heritage of the folk club circuit, branching out to engage with today's diverse music, pushing and blurring musical boundaries.

Up Close and Personal. Phoenix hosts the cream of national and international folk and roots talent, but by placing this alongside aspiring local artists in an accessible and intimate setting we also create a unique context for sharing musical ideas and experiences.

All Mixed Up. Phoenix is both a product and celebration of Sheffield's diverse folk and roots scene, yet by providing a truly inclusive and participatory performance space it offers a new way for people of all backgrounds to explore their cultural heritage and shared future.

That's all very well, but what does it DO?

The Phoenix Music Club puts on regular folk and roots events in Sheffield. The events include mainly music and song, but also story-telling, dance and spoken-word performances.

We also work within communities around Sheffield - getting our performers out and about, and encouraging people to share their culture, beliefs and ideas through music, song, dance and story-telling. Music can be the shortest distance between two people.
