Phoenix is back in business
Nearly four years after our last event, we're finally looking at the first two gigs of our revived club.
It's been a long hard battle getting the club back up and running. Although our first season in 2003/2004 was a storming success, half our organising team had babies and didn't have time or energy to keep it going.
It was always our intention to start up again, but this time round we've found it much harder to find a venue. The Royal Society for the Blind where our first season ran is no longer available, and unfortunately Sheffield is pretty rubbish for good venues to suit small to mid scale music events.
Happily, we've struck up a relationship with the Companion's Club in Pitsmoor, one of Sheffield's most vibrant areas. It's not yet a well-known venue, but that's about to change with the arrival of the Phoenix Music Club.
We'll have a decent capacity at the Companion's Club without sacraficing the intimacy that Phoenix became famous for. Add a fully licensed bar, the snacks you loved last time, and, of course, a line-up of artists to make your average festival jealous, and it'll seem like we were never away.
