June 5th - Grinders' Misfortune Society

With great regret, we have to announce that Janiveer cannot join us
for the re-opening of the Phoenix Music Club next Thursday. This is
due circumstances outside of their control. We're really sorry not to
be able to include them at this time, but fully intend to book them in
our Autumn season if they are available.

However, we are very pleased to welcome Sheffield's own Grinders' Misfortune Society who have stepped into the breach and will provide an equally lively climax to our opening event.

The Grinders' Misfortune Society have been described as "organic anglo-trad drum+bass clockworktronica party music, bringing folk crashing into the walls of the exceptionally contemporary, for anyone who just can't help but jump around." The band brings together members of many of the finest groups of our region, including Crucible, Hekety, Jabadaw, Gloworms and Glorystrokes. We saw them at the recent Inter-Varsity Folk Dance Festival, and they Rocked our World.

So, we hope we'll see you next week, cos you're in for a real treat. The Grinders' Misfortune Society, Billy Martin Jnr., Doug Eunson and Sarah Matthews, Triskele Sword, and Outre-Manche. Marvellous :)

Best wishes,
Mark Gibbens, and the Phoenix Team.
